SeaEagle RazorLite 473RL Flip and recovery in deep water, American Lake, July 25, 2024.

American Lake, Tacoma, Washington. I have been paddling a SeaEagle RazorLite 473RL for over 7 years. Took it twice to Australia and to Canada. My wife and I have paddled the RazorLite in large rivers, lakes, Puget Sound, open ocean, lagoons and estuaries. We have never flipped in our RazorLite. During this practice flip I had just finished 1 1/2 hours of sprint training for I was pretty tired. PLEASE NOTE THAT I'M WEARING A LEASH. An absolute essential safety device. I have a PFD attached to the boat but with the the leash the boat acts as my PFD. The first time that I tried two flip the RazorLite I fell out of the boat and it stayed upright. The boat is that stable. I had to physically pull the boat over with me to get it to flip. I believe that flip recovery would greatly be helped with a second paddler as he or she could act as a counter weighing the opposite side of the canoe to keep me from pulling the boat over as I clim in. Then I could Lean outward as a counter weight to help the other paddler into the boat. I do some more flip practice before I take this RazorLite with me to Hilo and Kona Hawaii next month (August 2024). Music by Andrew Molina
