** Got a question for me? Write it in the comments below ** I'm often asked where tea comes from. Different origins have different characteristics. Traditional "All-Day" or "English Breakfast" style teas come mainly from East Africa and Assam. These origins have the combination of strength, colour and richness that is required of teas that take milk. Speciality origins such as China and Japan are not so much bought by the mainstream tea trade, but they both produce interesting teas that are loved by connoisseurs. Sri Lankan (Ceylon) Tea used to be a mainstay of the English tea trade, but quality declined in the 70s. Although it's now better again, the UK has now got into the habit of buying African teas (which benefit from less seasonality than Sri Lankan teas). Secondary origins such as Argentina and Iran are also becoming more important as supermarket price requirements become ever more challenging. _____________________________________ Hello Tea Lovers!
