Today (24/06/24) She Wolf and I were taking a ride out to Ullswater in the beautiful English lake district to celebrate her birthday, with a barbeque on the shores of our favourite lake. The carpark was empty, there was a little cosy space down by the lake away from anyone, A tree shaded us from the sun while we enjoyed our barbeque and several hours relaxing in breathtaking surroundings, totally Unplugged from the Matrix. "Have you ever stood and stared at it? Marvelled at its beauty, its genius? Billions of people just living out their lives, oblivious." Down by the lake, we had No internet, no telephone signal, no music (ahh, remember those days of style? You had to be good at Face-to-face Conversation, none of this click, tap, beep, beep, beep!?) No neighbours banging doors, shouting outside the apartments at 02:30am and certainly No television! I haven`t sat and watched television for decades, ever since I realised how much noise the Matrix was pumping into my head! While we were devouring or meaty feast. Just before 8 o`clock, We heard a bike approaching from a distance and then saw a Red Ducati pass us, a short while after a Black Honda VFR heading at quite a rapid rate (60mph+ *I thought*) towards Glenridding and Kirkstone pass. Only a minute or so went by and we heard what sounded like a car wheel-spinning out of the carpark, about a mile down the road. We had enjoyed the barbeque and the peaceful surroundings for more than a few hours, lost in each others company... Until we heard sirens pass by, from a literal stream of Police cars followed closely by two ambulances and two riot vans!? We decided to set off home about 21:00pm (back to the "real world") Pulling out of the carpark we were feeling relaxed with a full stomach and a head full of memories that will last a lifetime! We Didn`t get far... Just a mile down the road across from the layby near the massive rock formation, overlooked by breathtaking views, we came upon a Police Road Block. After assessing the situation and an alternate route home, a guy approached me and said there was a bad accident up ahead and it involved another bike. (a female rider) I said: I had seen a red and then a black pass us, not so long ago, with this his eyes dropped to the floor and nodded his head, yes, he said softly. Visually upset with what he had seen. I thanked him for coming to explain to me. She Wolf asked: did he see the accident? He replied: "Yes, the bike was riding too quick down here and didn`t make the corner. :( ________________________________________________________ The Next day (25/06/24) The news report had this to say: A 28 year old female motorcyclist died at the scene of a crash of a crash on the A592 near Glenridding, yesterday evening (24th June) Police are investigating the single-vehicle crash that occurred at 8.15pm.
