http://www.crosstrainingenduro.com Our Klim Mojave review after a year of abuse. One year ago I compiled hundreds of rider's comments about their best and worst jerseys and pants. This was the result. Klim ranked best. I had a personal agenda with this topic. We always choose riding gear with maximum ventilation for riding in our sub-tropical climate. The problem? The cheap to mid-priced gear rips too easily... often with the very first crash. Need hard enduro training? Work through our video lists. Sometimes it doesn't even need a crash. These pants ripped open after 20 minutes of riding. Most manufacturers are using thinner materials and claiming it's to provide more ventilation. But it's usually about cost-cutting yet not with Klim Mojave riding gear. A Fox employee told us their jerseys are overpriced and falling apart due to sourcing the cheapest possible fabric from China. My brother and I had similar issues with adventure riding gear. Extreme enduro training vids are our focus. So we waited until Klim announced next year's range and got all our enduro and adventure riding gear from the superceded range. We opted for the in-the-boot pants. There's also an over-the-boot version which includes pockets for hip and knee armour. So... our Klim Mojave long term review. Forty dirt rides in one year. Plenty of Klim Mojave riding gear crashes. The Klim Mojave jersey and pants are still in great shape. I checked the internals and the stitching is still perfect. It's good to see double stitching with very strong thread where it counts - quite different to most. I could only find one small hole. We regularly get jabbed by sharp branches and this one almost dragged me off the motorbike. Jeff opted for the cheaper XC Lite jersey. Klim XC Lite is even lighter and more ventilated than the Mojave. It's so ventilated he was worried about sunburn but no problems to date. Despite plenty of crashes, zero rips or tears. So the Klim Mojave fabric is tough. Some crashes have resulted in abrasions that drew blood but there were still no tears. It's built to last which is good news. The earlier Klim Mojave pants used heavier materials and less venting which did make some riders wonder if they were cost-cutting with cheaper materials. But they are still very rugged but with better airflow. The Klim Mojave pockets on the legs are great for storing things like rags. If you are enduro riding get into our enduro training vids. If I was in my 20s perhaps I'd like those big bold colours and wild graphics. Klim deliberately includes lighter colour schemes to reflect sunlight instead of absorb it. The negatives. A possible Klim Mojave negative is the leather inserts for the inner knee. I have deliberately not used any leather conditioner over the past year just to see if the leather could handle regular washing. No problems there. But it does take a while to dry. Plenty of pants just use thick high quality textiles here which can last. I'm a bit puzzled by the choice of leather. As mentioned we chose the in-the-boot pants. The over-the-boot pants include pockets for hip and knee pads. We noticed some riders said the Klim Mojave knee pad pockets are too low and when you sit the pads don't cover your knee properly. Gloves. I avoided the gloves. Klim seem to consistently rate as the best with their jerseys, pants and jackets. But they don't score well with their gloves. This has been excellent in Australia but I have heard a number of complaints from the USA which suggests that Klim could lift their game in their home country. It might just be a few disgruntled customers who damaged their gear and are just hoping for free gear. But often where there's smoke there's a fire. If you are enduro riding get into our enduro training vids. Our dirt riding tips are great for developing your hard enduro skills. Klim Mojave ventilation? No sunburn at all. The expensive price tag. Actually I disagree about this common complaint. As mentioned we got a pile of superceded gear so patience can save you hundreds. I think Klim's pricing is similar to the premium range in other brands. For example, the Mojave jersey is US$80 and the pants are US$209. . It's worth noting the Klim XC Lite range is well priced too. US$55 for the jersey and $169 for the pants. If we do hit issues with this Klim gear we'll post further information there. What about you?
