At 27, Adrienne Bennett was the first woman to complete a plumbing apprenticeship program in the state of Michigan. Bennett says she faced bullying and harassment from her male peers during the 5-year training program. Bennett said she decided to fight back against the harassment after an incident with a male coworker After passing an exam and logging the required 4,000 hours of experience, Bennett became a licensed master plumber at age 30 in 1987.
