Breathtaking Diocletian's palace in Split Croatia Ep 15

Day 15 : Split :Took me a while to cover the 10 minutes distance from our apartment to the palace which was our first pit stop today. Cascades of bougainvillea graced the stone facades of centuries old buildings , their fuschia petals contrasting beautifully against the weathered walls. And I wanted to absorb every bit of this before I moved further. The majority of the old town lies within the walls of the Diocletians palace. So whether you are eating at the cute cafes or shopping for souvenirs in the kitchy shops or looking through the art galleries, you are actually in the palace all this while. We set about to see the main part of the Diocletian palace which included the oldest catholic cathedral in the world , climbing the bell tower to take in beautiful views of the Split Riva and the equally quaint red roofs lined old town. The People's square buzzing with tourists and locals alike. The peristyle which is the centre of the palace and the basement market. The palace has been extensively used as the shooting location for Season 4 of Game of Thrones . Enjoying the Riva promenade in the late afternoon light with a packed lunch by the promenade before getting back to our apartment for an early evening siesta meant having a very leisurely pace to the day. Went back to the promenade in the evening to take in the changing colours of the sky as we enjoyed a couple of gelatos before settling down for a beautiful dinner by the Riva.Truly a magical day❤️
