Several short hikes from our winter trip to Big Bend National Park. Easily one of the coolest natural areas in west Texas, Big Bend has tons of excellent trails, of which we sample just a few in this video. All of the trails in this video are short (do-able in a few hours or less), making them easy additions to a busy trip and great for families and groups with all levels of hiking experience! Lots of interesting geology along the way and dramatic landscapes that are a playground for photographers, as well as amateurs with an iPhone (such as myself). 00:21 Rio Grande Village Nature Trail 1 mi round-trip nature trail beginning in Rio Grande Village Campground, on the Eastern side of the park. River access, as well as an overlook with views of the Sierra del Carmen in Mexico and the town of Boquillas del Carmen. Trail goes down to the Window, a pour-off (seasonal waterfall) at the edge of the Chisos. Wonderful views at the end and along the way. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/te... 02:44 Hot Spring Canyon Historical Area A very short (~0.25 mi) walk to the hot springs after a ~3 mile dirt road (mostly very well-maintained, but with some sketchy areas, 4WD/AWD advised). Historical (empty) post office and hotel. Petroglyphs along the canyon walls. The first part is pretty hot, exposed desert hiking, but then leads to a series of canyons. Middle Earth vibes.
