Join us as we embark on a 3 day off-road journey around the desert badlands of Georgia's wild Eastern corner 🇬🇪 In this episode of our van travel series we set off to find out if our 2WD LDV Convoy camper van can tackle a 3 day off-road adventure around Vashlovani National Park, Georgia's wild Eastern corner of desert badlands, mountains and steppes. First we explore the ruins of Manavi fortress in the Kahketi region of Georgia, before driving on to Big Shiraki, an abandoned Soviet airfield on the Shiraki Plain. Next we have to get our permits in order in Dedoplistskaro to enter Vashlovani on the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan, before we can finally leave the paved roads behind. Here we begin our three day off-road adventure around Vashlovani National Park in our 2WD LDV Convoy van, on tracks recommended for 4x4s only. We drive through Bear Canyon (Pantishara Canyon) to reach the Eldari Lowlands, home to Tush shepherds as well as wildlife like the gazelle, Caucasian leopard, bears and wolves. We reach the furthest East point of Georgia and our journey, at Usakhelo Viewpoint on the border with Azerbaijan, proving that you really can go anywhere in an LDV.
