Echoes Of Meldon

Drone footage around Meldon Viaduct and Reservoir in Summer 2022. Details: Meldon Viaduct is located on the former LSWR line from Exeter to Plymouth, around 3 miles west of Okehampton on the flanks of Dartmoor, Devon. This awesome structure is open today as The Granite Way and once used to carry the railway onward from Meldon Quarry on the east side, to Meldon Junction on the west, where the line to Halwill Junction and Bude once diverged. (visible in the latter part of the video) Opened: 12th October 1874 Closed to rail traffic as a through route: 1968 (Late 1980's officially for shunting from the quarry) Height: 46m Length: 165m There are a number of steam loco sounds overlayed into this video, from my own recordings and those of the late John Tait.
