Fall 2024 Evening Lecture Series: Nick Lamia "Get Out There!" recorded on October 8, 2024. Nick Lamia’s artwork is primarily non-objective, but is based on real experience—often involving outdoor adventures on mountains or the ocean. His works are inspired by the overlap of nature and society. Lamia is a Guggenheim Fellow who has received various other residencies and awards. His recent solo exhibitions include Cloud Architecture at Planthouse Gallery, New York, The Tailwaters Project, at the AVA Gallery, New Hampshire, and PyroCB at The Space in Milwaukee. The Evening Lecture Series has been an integral part of New York Studio School’s programming since its founding in the 1960s. This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the School's founding. An intensive studio arts program that values artists learning from artists, working from perception, and the practice of drawing as the most direct means of translating one’s ideas or experiences, NYSS offers an array of full-time and part-time programs that prioritize in-depth dialogue with dedicated instructors. Programs are offered in-person for those based in New York City and in virtual formats to enable real-time participation for artists around the world.
