The base station connects via wifi and if you have the professional monitoring in place will the system will operate on cellular backup when your wifi goes down. The keypad is built into the the base station and there are no additional keypads that work with the security system. You are limited to the one keypad provided as part of the security system. You can arm the Nest security system by using the built in keypad, with RFID tags provided with the system or using Google Home voice commands. **Ring vs Nest Sensors** The Ring security system has multiple types of battery powered sensors and 3rd party sensors and devices that work with the Ring Alarm system. The sensors include: Window/Door Contact Sensor Motion Sensor Flood Freeze Sensor Smoke/Fire/CO Listener Sensor Smoke/CO Alarm Panic Button Wired Retrofit Alarm Kit Battery Powered Keypads Siren Z-Wave Light Switches The Nest alarm system has one type of sensor that works with the alarm system. A combined Window/Door contact sensor and motion sensor. There are currently no additional types of sensors that work with the Nest alarm system.
