In this video: After I have this Alder mask 99.9% carved to where I want it. I decided to add Tung oil as a treatment. It helps the grains to stand out more. The spalting action in the Alder adds another look to the overall mask. Since I have these pieces I'm going to incorporate that into the design. I also use miniwax stain floated in a tung oil solution and apply it. It comes out looking like a wash, which is a desired look that I have used in the past. May use it on this one as well.
