The Yes Optimistic is hands down, one of my favorite boards! This thing is not for the faint of heart. The Yes Optimistic is an absolute beast of a carving machine. Extremely responsive, stiff, and powerful- this board is for the person who wants to rail awesome turns, while still getting premium flotation in the powder. The tapered pin tail shape makes for a board that feels incredibly quick turning. The short turning radius makes the board feel super nimble and agile. Camber under the foot gives the board the responsive liveliness and stability you would expect from a classic shape. The rocker shovel encourages flotation and turning initiation. The core on this board utilizes bamboo streamers that are wrapped in carbon, to give the board added rigidity and pop. Yes' edge technology (known as underbite) increases edge hold, and is designed to redistribute weight and pressure from under your bindings, out towards the contact points of the board. This helps over all steering and control of the board. I got to demo this seasons version of the Yes Optimistic, last year on a demo day here in Whistler. I had a great time laying in some swooping carves, and taking this thing down a tight bike path. Over all, this board is one of my absolute favorites, but it is definitely not for a beginner level rider. Someone who is coming from a boarder cross background would love this shape and level of response.
