Paignton Zoo circa 1936 Rare cine film home movie of the animals and grounds
A very early film of Paignton Zoo, Torbay , Devon taken in 1936. The film shows the grounds and some of the animals at the zoo including Zebra, Hyena, Birds etc. The zoo had under gone many improvements since the 1930s so it is interesting to see how it was in the early years. Herbert Whitley established Paignton Zoo in the 1920s so this may be one of the earliest films taken at the site. The movie was shot on a Pathe Baby 9.5mm film which was quite dark and under exposed in places, but restored quite well. Each frame was captured separately and combined together to create the digital movie file. Digitised by Moviescan.co.uk
