Who said you can't have fun with a D-Series? In today's video we do some downhill POV touge style driving with the 1999 Honda Civic Build! The modest N/A D16Y8 stretches it's legs with PLENTY of VTEC Crossovers on some twisty mountain roads. No talking, just the sights and sounds of a fun mountain drive. Car guy ASMR, enjoy! Other than a rattly shifter, I think this is one of the few videos that captures the sound of a D16 VTEC Crossover. The 127HP sohc D16Y8 isn't known for speed, but can still be a ton of fun with the right mods (all while getting 40mpgs!). People are usually quick to swap the D-Series for a B-Series or K-Series, but depending on how the car is driven, the D16's are still great motors. Just ask the Turbo D Series owners with laptops ;) Overall, this car is still a blast to drive up in the mountains and Canyons. Over 169K miles on the motor and still feels strong. Brakes got pretty toasty towards the end of the drive, so there's still room for improvement there. As far as the best Civic mods for canyon carving, Coilovers, Lightweight Wheels/Tires, Camber Kits, and strut bars will do wonders! I hope you dig this style of video!
