Summer expedition in Svalbard: Glaciers On The Move episode 2!

We're back! Back in Svalbard for another awesome field campaign! This time we're heading to Wahlenbergbreen on the West coast of Isfjorden. The glacier started surging in 2009-2010 and advanced over more than 3.4 km during its surge. Our goal was to install a series of time-lapse cameras to capture the surge dynamics. We got fortunate to be able to assemble another dream team of scientists to make this fieldwork happen. Massive thanks to Nina Adjanin, Charles Amory and Anatoly Sinitsyn. Most of the drone shots are from David Wrangborg, check out his work here: http://www.wrangborg.se/ Some background on our project: In 2017 I started a project called Glaciers On The Move with my friend and super talented photographer David Wrangborg. This project aims to combine Science and Art to raise the awareness of the surging glaciers of Svalbard, these fast-moving glaciers found all over the archipelago. Luckily, we received funding from the Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund to make it happen. In 2018 we led two expeditions to collect enough material for an exhibition at the Svalbard Museum, this video is the story behind the second expedition.
