First time in TBILISI, the capital of GEORGIA - Raw first impressions თბილისი საქართველო

Hi everyone! This is episode four of my Caucasus series in which I travel through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia. This is effectively a 'Part A' of my Tbilisi videos so watch out for the other videos! In this video, I give my raw first impressions on Tbilisi as and when I encounter things of interest. Throughout the video, I comment on the state of the buildings and the unique architectural scene in Tbilisi. I also comment on the variety of street art and try some local food for breakfast at Freedom Square, also known as Liberty Square. The vlog starts off with me giving a tour of my hostel room and giving a breakdown of the cost. I also then introduce the local currency, the Georgian Lari, and explain the value in relation to British Pound. I leave the hostel and give a little bit of background about the meaning of the word 'Tbilisi' as well as information regarding the founding of the city. I then head down Rustaveli Avenue, the main avenue in Tbilisi, towards the town centre. Along the way, I notice some incredible architecture and green spaces, and get a glimpse of life and the culture of the city. I visit the Old City Wall and note the derelict state of some of the buildings as well as the prominent wooden balconies which seem to be a definite theme in the city. It is breakfast time and I enjoy a coffee and Georgian chicken pie, with a view of Freedom Square. After devouring the pie, I give a bit of information about the famous 1907 Tiflis Bank Robbery that took place in the square. After this, I head out to see more of the city and draw comparisons / differences to South Africa as well as Azerbaijan, from which I just arrived. Finally, I give my verdict about the architecture and also introduce a very interesting 21st century structure in Tbilisi. Hope you enjoy!
