Under their captain, Tommy Kingdom, he guided them to four Devon Association 8-Bell titles (1960 at Berry Pomeroy, 1963 at Great Torrington, 1964 at Chagford and 1965 at South Molton) and three Tawstock Shield wins. A remarkable achievement considering the strength and opposition of 8-bell teams in Devon at the time. Other notable ringers that rang in this successful side were John Chappel, Jack Luxton, Jack Tooze and Ivan Spedutti.
