To meet changing demands the Chevrolet Impala received a complete redesign in 1977 for its sixth generation debut. The new "smaller" Impalas, although taller, were more narrow and shorter in length. The new shortened frame (shorter than the one introduced in 1971) would be used until 1996. With its increased height, the headroom grew, and despite the smaller exterior dimensions the rear-seat leg-room and trunk space were able to be increased. With the strong redesign, production ramped up, the 1977 Impala regained the number one US sales position, and took home Motor Trend's car of the year. Options on this Impala include: Air Conditioning, AM Radio, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Vinyl Interior, Radial White Wall Tires, Hub Caps, Seat Belts, Anti-Theft System, and Air Adjustable Shocks in the rear. Engine options were reduced in 1977, this particular Impala was born with and still sports the original 305-cubic-inch (5.0 L) V8 engine, as well as the original 3 speed automatic transmission. The nearly 40 year old light brown interior in this Impala is in great condition. Peek in the windows and you will see zero rips, tears, or cracks in the front and rear bench seats, the dash is in the same great condition. The metallic finish still shows a lot of sparkle and shine, especially given its age. The air adjustable rear shocks are a wonderful addition to this 1977 Impala and improve the ride quality greatly.
