Waders 101

With summer almost upon us and tens of thousands of waders winging their way south to our shores and wetlands, we thought it would be good timing to chat about wader identification. Waders are certainly one of the trickier bird groups to identify as they tend to all look the same to an untrained eye, but with a few basic pointers and some practise, their identification can be very rewarding, particularly when finding a rare species. Our first wader webinar will focus on the commoner species one can expect to see in Southern Africa but we intend to run a second (follow up) webinar to help you pick out the rarer waders.
