南極 D8 Damoy Point 今朝要去玩mountaineering. 因為新手又冇硬身鞋可裝上特定冰爪, 只能被安排到用snowshoe雪鞋登山. 各人不知點解對這個mountaineering 好緊張, 五人小隊, 有兩個同伴差點太緊張而放棄, 有一個直接棄權. 穿上裝備harness, 衝鋒艇帶我們上岸, 開始落雪落雨落雹😱. 兩個教練一頭一尾, 全部人戴上繩索, 帶我哋開始行被厚雪覆蓋着的冰川, 眼前景象全是黑白. 1.5小時輕微上斜到了小小的山頂上就回程了…真的mountaineering BB 班.😂. 但這個旅程完全考驗各人的裝備, 正好測試我這一件穿了十年多, 幸好行程前修復了所有老化壓膠的goretex pro…2.5 hr暴雨竟然繼續防水. 但手套和褲不是goretex pro 就損傷慘重, 短短5分鐘的衝鋒艇回程又濕又凍超級唔舒服…幸好可以即刻返去沖熱水涼, 又有暖管可以烘乾所有衣服. 南極 D8: Base Brown 經歷了早上抑鬱天氣, 下午衝鋒艇出動的時候竟然迎來一超級驚喜. 1.5 hr衝鋒艇cruise + 1.5hr 登岸. Crew 形容這個天氣景象為 “very Antarctic”, 開始下雪, 雪下到海水上邊凝固了, 全海域也是雪塊冰塊交集的景象, 剛好衝鋒艇就在這個叫Paradise Bay 海域飄浮着, 超級夢幻. 然後1.5 小時候上岸到阿根廷南極基地找企鵝, 砌雪人, 仲砌咗個雪滑梯, 成班大細路滑過不停. 晚餐後各人衝出甲板看一群orcas殺人鯨跟着我們的船. What a day! Antarctica D8 Damoy Point Today morning is mountaineering experience, due to newbie without proper hard mountaineering shoes that can put on proper crampons, can only participate an experience with snowshoes. Many are anxious for this for no apparent reason and almost gave up before beginning, one called quit that morning, leaving just four of us in a small group led by two mountaineering leaders. Got our gears and harness ready, zodiac took us to the landing site and off we go when it starts raining, snowing and hailing. It involves walking in line with a security rope, snowshoeing up a glaciar covered in thick snow. The scene is purely black and white. 1.5 hours up the hill before turning back down soaked wet. Perfect day to test out my gear, gladly fixed the 10 years old goretex jacket before the trip and it stays perfectly waterproof under torrential rain. Super grateful for hot shower and heater to dry up everything. Antarctica D8: Base Brown After a depressive soaked wet morning, yet a sequence of surprises totally turned it around. The ship arrived near “Paradise bay” for a zodiac cruise after lunch, the crew described this weather as “very Antarctica”: it starts snowing, snow accumulated on the ocean, and the entire area are filled with snow ice, glacial ice and iceberg. Simply magical. Then another landing at the Argentina base to look for more penguins, build a snowman and a long snow slide. Back to ship with a group of orcas surrounded us after dinner.
