A quick talk about the dangers of going down the wrong career path, and a warning to those who might see themselves getting sucked into or already in it. I truly believe this is the best thing you can do for yourself, and for the world. There are so, so many ways you can find your own path and create your own life in 2024. It just takes looking deeper at what you want. Sorry for the bummy video quality and for how dead i sound 😭 it's been a rough few months. It's also wild to be back here after so long. I'm honestly really looking forward to making more videos, just things that I think are important to talk about, and also personal projects + stuff. I hope you guys enjoy this type of content and even if you don't, I truly, genuinely want to thank you for the support you've given along the way. It's been a wild ride. But anyways, more on the video. I honestly made this in a rush, I think there are few more things that are important to talk about: Sustainability is absolutely going to be huge. I think I'm going to make a separate video on this alone, but the energy industry is going to have to start transitioning away from oil and gas. The threat of global warming and a collapsing global ecosystem is real and it's already here. There are tons of opportunities to get into sustainability as we start doing this on a global scale. Princeton had a conference recently where we had guest speakers from McKinsey, the EPA, Goldman Sachs, Harvard, and JERA, and it's all in relation to how we are going to basically start saving the planet. And when you have companies like BlackRock saying they're taking this seriously too, you know it's going to be the future. I also take back some of what I said in the video 💀 I think tech especially is still a very relevant career option, and also financing the energy transition is still going to be a big question, so there are definitely jobs in finance/consulting/IB/VC that will be related to this. But seriously ask yourself if what you are working on is something you will be okay with. Consider what you will be doing with your job, and if you find yourself in it, ask whether you feel okay being in that environment. Just check in with yourself, think ahead, and ask yourself: Is this really what I want my life to be? At the end of the day, we all have our own paths and I don't want to discourage you from doing something that you feel compelled to do.
