The movement of livestock using rail was staple activity of most rail systems from earliest times. Livestock, cattle, sheep and pigs were regularly moved by Queensland Rail. This traffic has been somewhat reduced in both scope and volumes over time and today, only cattle are moved by rail. One destination in for cattle loading was Murgon in South East Queensland. Located on the Kingaroy Branch. The local meatworks received weekly trains conveying cattle from northern and western Queensland loading points . This production captures a small insight into one such working back in the late 1990's. The domain of light line locomotives, 1720 Class locomotives were the only locomotives left on the power roster by the time these scenes were captured. The Kingaroy officially closed in 2008 but in effect no services had been running for a number of years. So this production gives a small insight into the dying days of a Queensland branch line.
