Leishmania donovani is an obligatory intracellular hemoflagellate protozoa causes visceral leishmaniasis or Kala azar or black fever in human and other mammals. The vector, an insect female sandfly (Phlebotomus sp.) bite human and spread the disease. The parasite exists in two stages- Amastigote or Aflagellar Stage and Promastigote or Flagellar Stage. All the morphological details are mentioned and also the life cycle.
