Air Burners Biomass Waste-to-Energy - PG-FireBox Helps Fight Global Warming

Curbing Open Pile Burning of biomass helps fight Climate Change by reducing Black Carbon (Smoke or Particulate Matter), one of the worst climate change forcing agents. 35% of all Black Carbon worldwide comes from uncontrolled biomass burning. The PGFireBox virtually eliminates Black Carbon from biomass combustion and produces electricity and thermal energy for drying of lumber, etc. The PGFireBox by Air Burners, Inc. is used where large amounts of wood waste must be reduced in a cost efficient and environmentally friendly manner and where electricity converted from the heat energy released by the waste combustion process can be utilized on-site or sold into the local power grid. Systems ranging from 100 kW to 1MW are offered. The system is a Whole-Log Wood Waste Air Curtain Burner coupled with an ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) Engine. It completely eliminates the costly, polluting and time consuming pre-processing steps, such as chipping or grinding the wood waste to make it acceptable to co-generation facilities. Long distance hauling is also no longer required. The PGFireBox is portable and powers itself from the electricity generated. It can be deployed close to the location where the woody biomass is collected. An example would be the need for forest rehabilitation in the Western United States and Canada where millions of trees killed by beetles must be removed and destroyed for forest fire mitigation and to prepare for reforestation. Another application would be a landfill that takes in a steady stream of wood waste along with other wastes and also requires power for its on-site machinery, pumps, etc. The PGFireBox machine meets or exceeds all applicable US EPA regulations for air curtain burners. It consists of three modules, the Power Module, FireBox Module and the Cooling Module. A water condensing air blast cooler, the Cooling Module, is only needed, if cooling water from a source, such as a lake, well or stream, is not available .
