Adding Factory Bluetooth to Your Saab 9-3

In this video I go over the process of adding factory Bluetooth to your 2007-2012 Saab 9-3. If you found this video helpful, be sure to like, share and subscribe! The Vehicle Communication Interface Module (VCIM) aka the communication or OnStar module has 2 Bluetooth versions: With 1 pink fakra connector 20942557 / With 2 fakra connectors pink & blue 20829984 Big shoutout to Saab Central Forum for having a thread with an incredible amount of information to make this video possible: https://www.saabcentral.com/threads/h... How to properly remove the upper HVAC vent above the radio:    • How to Remove That Pesky Saab HVAC Vent   Light up trunk switch install:    • Illuminated SAAB Trunk Switch Install   OEM Saab Navigation radio retro fit video series:    • SAAB OEM Navigation Radio Retrofit   2007-2009 Saab SatNav Navigation radio part numbers: 12841612 / 12777838 In my 2008, it originally had a Bose radio that was non-navigation. During the process of this Nav retrofit, I tapped into 2 wires from the K14 plug behind the radio (pins 4 and 5) and ran wires all the way to the VCIM in the back to the J3 plug (pins 2 and 4). If you want to add Bluetooth with your retrofitted nav head unit, then you have to add those wires first. Vid on adding these wires can be found here:    • Adding Voice Recognition (Part 3 Saab...   Then to also get Bluetooth commands, go the extra step shown in this video by connecting the K14 plug pin 4 to K16 plug pin 7. Then connect K14 plug pin 5 to K16 plug pin 15. If you have a non-navigation head unit and want to add factory Bluetooth, you must first add in a 2009 or later head unit. If your car has the Bose system, which you can easily identify by looking at the dash speakers, then you need to put in a Bose radio 2009 or newer. With or without XM radio doesn’t matter because that is an external module and will work either way. Some of the 2009+ Non-Navigation Bose (6 disc) optioned radios include: 12779270 / 12842428 / 12849449 / 13319858 Some of the 2009+ Non-Navigation and Non-Bose (single disc) optioned radios: 13319857 / 12842427 / 12842427 Now along with that updated Non-Nav radio, you have to take the K16 plug going into the radio and add pins 7 and 15, then run those all the way back to the VCIM and connect to the J2 plug pins 1 and 2.
