This video lecture is about the five kingdoms. The five kingdoms are actually the kingdoms of life. Robert Whittaker classified all organisms into five kingdoms. This is known as five kingdom system of classification. These five kingdoms are: 1) Kingdom Prokaryotae or Kingdom Monera 2) Kingdom Protoctista or Kingdom Protista 3) Kingdom Fungi 4) Kingdom Plantae 5) Kingdom Animalia Kingdom Prokaryotae or Kingdom Monera Organisms in Kingdom monera are all prokaryotic or prokaryotes. Microscopic and lack membrane bounded organelles. Cell wall in prokaryotes is made of murein (peptidoglycan). Examples are Bacteria and Cyanobacteria or blue green algae. Kingdom Protoctista or Kingdom Protista Kingdom protista includes protists which are eukaryotic and mostly unicellular organisms. Usually aquatic. Examples are algae, slime molds and protozoans ( Plasmodium, Amoeba and Pareamecium). Kingdom Fungi The organisms in Kingdom Fungi are eukaryotic and mostly multicellular. Cell wall is made of chitin (polysaccharide). Fungi do not have chloroplast and chlorophyll. So they are heterotrophic. They store food in the form of glycogen. Examples are Mushrooms, Puffballs and Yeast. Kingdom Plantae Organisms in Kingdom Plantae are plants. Plants are eukaryotic and multicellular. Members of the kingdom plantae have chloroplast and chlorophyll. And they are autotrophic. Cell wall is made of cellulose (polysaccharide). Plants lack centrioles. Reserve food is in the form of starch. Examples are Brassica, Mulberry, Pinus and Ferns. Kingdom Animalia All the animals are included in Kingdom animalia. Animals are eukaryotic and multicellular. Members of Kingdom animalia have no chloroplast and chlorophyll. So they are heterotrophic. Animal cell lack cell wall and centrioles are present. Reserve food is in the form of glycogen (polysaccharide). Members of the kingdom animalis have been divided into two groups, invertebrates and vertebrates. Invertebrates do not have vertebral column while vertebrates have vertebral column. Examples of invertebrates are jellyfish, worms, and insects. Examples of vertebrates are fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. All the five kingdoms in class 9th biology in chapter introduction to biology have been discussed by Sabar Khan in Pashto ( Pushto) in detail. #TheFiveKingdoms #TheKingdomsOfLife #MoneraProtistaFungiPlantaeAnimalia #SabarKhanLectures #MureinChitinCellulose #9thClassBiology
