Jeanneau MerryFisher 895 Review

The Merry Fisher concept by Jeanneau combines day boat, entertainer, fishing platform and overnighter all in one and the Merry Fisher 895, new for 2017, is perhaps their best example yet. Boatadvice got to test the new boat recently on Sydney Harbour and came away even more impressed than they were with the previous models they had looked at. These boats have become incredibly popular recently and are perfect for small families or downsizers combining space, comfort and convenience in an easy to handle package that is big on space and small on hassle. Boatadvice found that the run around Sydney Harbour was a good test of the boats capabilities on a typical waterway that includes some calm water cruising and areas of more challenging conditions with the chop and slop produced on one of Australia's most busy waterways The Merry Fisher is very easy to drive. The outboard power is familiar for anyone stepping up from an outboard powered trailer boat. The 350 horsepower Mercury Verado is quiet and efficient. These engines use Mercury's Smartcraft digital throttle and shift which delivers smooth acceleration and unparalleled control for any owner. You can also elect to have dual engines mounted as opposed to the single used here in this case. The hull , while designed for fuel efficient use is also quite capable of handling choppy conditions on water. When you come to a stop, the stability, crucial on a boat designed for day boating and over nighting, is there in spades and secure underfoot. Despite it's highsided design, berthing is simple with excellent vision from the helm position. A wide sliding door here also provides access to a walkway along the starboard side. You can elect to have lunch in the cockpit on the modular lounge which has four layout options. You can use only the rear lounge across the transom, add additional seating along the port side creating an L shaped lounge and drop in the table or add the last section at the rear floor to ceiling window to create a c shaped seating arrangement. Finally after all that you can drop the table down, add cushions and create a daybed If the weather is inclement head inside to the modular dinette with some of the best views on the water. Jeanneau have managed incredible sea views and bright natural lighting in the cabin with glass windows affording a 360° view The boat also has a twin burner stove, sink, storage and fridge on the starboard side of the cabin if you fancy yourself as a little Gordon Ramsay. Space is limited, so prepare your ingredients on the bench, move it over to the dining table and open the bench top to reveal the stove top. As day turns to night and you've decided to stay onboard, drop the dinette down to create an extra berth for your guests and head downstairs to the magnificent owner’s cabin with and offset island berth. The main berth is located at the bow which feature a wide point forward to create the room here for the island bed. The private guest cabin is located under the dinette and also features a wide view of the sea, for a level of comfort that is unequalled in this size category. Boatadvice suggest that this boat is perfect for small families or even downsizers looking for a usable space that is easier to handle.
