#BhimPakora Bhim Pakora is one of the important tourists' destinations around Lansdowne that is not only known for its picturesque beauty but also because of the story attached to this place. Bhim Pakora is a sight of two large rocks that are placed one above other and maintain perfect balance. One above other these rocks can be moved by a single finger but never topples even if they are pushed by both the hands. Bhim Pakora attracts large number of tourists and offers captivating views of sprawling beauty of nature. Bhim Pakora- A Startling Destination in Lansdowne Bhim Pakora is a beautiful place that offers scenic views to extensive forests and snow laden peaks. It falls in the geographical periphery of Lansdowne and can be reached after covering 2kms trek downhill on a rough path. As per myths, it is sad that Pandava's during the Mahabharata period stopped at this place for a night. One of the five brothers's of Pandava's, Bhim who was highly courageous and strong man placed one rock over the above in a manner that it never fells down. Since then the two rocks at Bhim Pakora are placed like that, unaffected by nature and humans. How to Arrive at Bhim Pakora Bhim Pakora is only 2kms from Lansdowne. Lansdowne is a small hill-station in the Pauri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The town is named such after Lord Lansdowne, the then Viceroy of India, who visited the place in 1884. It is in fact a cantonment and much thanks to the Indian Army, is also a place that is not yet spoilt by tourist mania. Why Visit Lansdowne? The biggest reason is that the place is not too hard to reach. Most of the journey in fact is through plains, and it is only the last 35 to 40 kilometers that involve driving in the hills. So you won't feel tired even after driving for long hours. How to reach Lansdowne Due to its location in the Himalayas, the only way to reach Lansdowne of course is by road. You can either drive all the way from your home if you were living somewhere close. If not then you can reach the nearest rail station or airport and drive to Lansdowne from there. We traveled from Chandigarh to Dehradun first, and afterwards took another day ride from Dehradun to Lansdowne. How to reach Lansdowne from Delhi If you were driving to Lansdowne from Delhi, then the route of the journey is mentioned below. There are other route too, but sharing the easiest and best one. Delhi – Ghaziabad – Modinagar – Meerut – Khatauli – Mirapur – Bijnor – Najibabad – Kotdwar – Lansdowne How to Reach Lansdowne by Bus If you were planning to travel by Bus then the idea is to reach Meerut or Kotdwar first. Government buses by Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) ply between Kotdwar to other cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, and Meerut on a regular basis. Best time to visit in Lansdowne The best time to visit lansdowne is from March to November in my personal experience, You can visit in the extreme winters too but the only hitch can be the dense fog which happens a lot. Hotel in Lansdowne A lot of good hotels are there in Lansdowne, you can easily get a hotel room starting from the budget of 800 INR to 12,000 per night depending upon your budget. But I won't recommend you to stay in the hotel in which I stayed in this Vlog.
