My brother Mark and I had a fantastic week paragliding in Annecy in August 2015. Having paraglided at Annecy dozens of times over many years, we thought we'd see what hanggliding was like. It was brilliant! My brief to my pilot was to throw it around and try to scare me. Unfortunately our combined weight was just a little over the safe limit for loops but I had a great flight. The sense of speed and being able to dive and then climb was amazing. If you want to try paragliding or hanggliding and are ever near Annecy, head to the Dousard landing field (https://goo.gl/maps/d7G771oESgN4Uq7F9) there's a free carpark there. Enjoy a sandwich and coffee from the little cafe there and chill while watch people landing. You'll also be able to find tandem companies there (I flew with https://www.deltaevasion.com/) and book a flight (I think it was about 80 Euros). A 25 minute mini-bus ride gets you to the launch site.
