We create Symphonic Metal covers and release them in sets. While we are on lockdown here in Moscow, I'm taking song requests from my patrons on Patreon. "My Immortal" by Evanescence was requested by my patron Glen Diefenbach. Here's an interesting story for you. A few years ago I went to an audition. I sang a couple of songs (or rather a couple of lines from the songs, that's how it usually goes😅, I think it was from "The Show Must Go On" and "Master of Puppets") and was asked by a member of the jury to sing something more lyrical, for example, "My Immortal". I couldn't fulfill this request because I didn't know the song. I heard it many times for sure, but I didn't remember the lyrics, so I went with something from Nightwish and the rest is history. So, naturally, when Glen included it in his suggestion-list I knew I had to make the cover of this song and "close the gestalt". This is one of the most touching ballads that depicts both the feeling of loss and the desire to move on. I'm sure anyone who has lost a loved one can relate to the haunting feeling and pain that even small and mundane things that remind you of this person can cause. I think this song captures this state perfectly. When I decided to play this song I instantly had a few exciting ideas. Of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to include a ghost-like presence (what can be better than a ghost who plays the piano?😉) and the symbols of the transience of time in the video. The song also speaks about the trails we leave behind, so I thought it would be appropriate to add to the scene some objects that will remind an observant viewer of some of our past endeavors.
