This December my friends, a handful of volunteers, and I took on the 15 hour journey up the mountains to Buscalan Village, home of the oldest tattoo artist in the world and last living mambabatok — Apo Whang Od We were welcomed with open arms and were able to distribute our donations to the children of the village. Apart from that, we met with several local tattoo artists knowledgeable in the art of Batok—their traditional tattooing technique (almost 1,000 years old!) Our weekend up north was filled with so many highlights that I just hope I was able to capture and give this amazing province justice through this video.
