What is a Discovery Flight? It's a chance for someone interested in becoming a pilot to get a first flight lesson, and see if they want to learn to fly and become a pilot. As the CFI, I try to make it inspirational and fun, giving the student pilot a feel of what it's like to learn to fly. And, I think Sienna really enjoyed her time at the controls of my Cessna 172. We started off going over the normal things on the ground, talking a little bit about the process, and going through all the preflight runup and things. Then we jumped in the airplane (with her mom in the back) so she could do her first flight lesson. She did the takeoff, climb, turns and most of the flying with my coaching. She's interested in an aviation career at this point, and it just seems like a fun thing to do. Not only that, there are a lot of aviation career options out there right now.
