The Truth About Victor Mature's Off-Screen Life - The Angel of Grief. Strictly speaking, Victor Mature is not a TV actor but a movie star, an idol of women, the Brad Pitt of his generation. If he is known on television it is thanks to many of his old films that have aired on the small screen, most notably “My Darling Clementine” (1946) in which he played the role of Doc Holliday, whose possibly the best performance of his career; film noir “Kiss of Death” (1947); his biggest hit, the Cecil B. DeMille epic “Samson and Delilah”; and the quasi-biblical epic "The Robe" (1953), in which he co-starred Richard Burton. In the early 60s, he made a few films in Italy before retiring, but he only retired from time to time when the films achieved his wish.
