TRIP REPORT | Holiday Flight to Costa Cruise! | CONDOR Boeing 767 | Frankfurt to Pointe-à-Pitre

Condor Trip Report flying from Frankfurt to Pointe-À-Pitre (in Guadalupe island) onboard one of the Condor Boeing 767-300W on a beautiful winter day. A nice flight on the Condor Beoing 767 from Frankfurt to Guadalupe island in the Caribbean. This is not a regular flight, but a charter one, in this case, organized by Costa Cruises, and only for the passengers of one of their cruises, in this case, the Costa Fascinosa. After a nice planespotting session at Frankfurt Terminal B, we boarded with almost 1h delay our Boeing 767 that would take us to Pointe-À-Pitre. From the very beginning, you could feel the atmosphere of a holiday flight: slow boarding, happy passengers, chilled cabin crew... We took off from runway 18 in Frankfurt and quickly made a right turn to start our route towards Guadeloupe. We over Luxembourg, north of Paris, and entered the Atlantic Ocean over the Brest area. From there we flew 8 hours over the sea. 8 hours without seeing a single point of ground. Water, water, and more water. This was a flight clearly marked by the turbulence we encountered several times as we crossed a couple of jetstreams over the Atlantic. This long route takes the Boeing 767 close to its limits in terms of range, meaning the fuel tanks were close to full. If we add a plane full of passengers, all of them with at least 2 pieces of baggage... we get a really heavy plane. That was the reason why our first cruise altitude was just 31.000 ft. As we could not climb very high during the first half of the flight, we couldn't avoid the turbulence. About the onboard service... well, I've seen them worse, but I've also seen much better services. There was only one meal option: pasta. It came with a cabbage salad, pudding and bread with butter. This time was not that I wanted to try another meal, but that I was really hungry after the quite small meal served... so I asked for another one. They brought me one that said was from the Premium Economy class. The service was sometimes interrupted by turbulence... but in any case, the crew just passed once more in 7h with a drink service. One hour and a half before landing, the crew offered the "dinner service", which wasn't more than a little snack. All in all a reasonably good experience taking into account the type of flight that it was: a pure holiday charter. For that I guess the service was ok, the crew was fine and in general, it was a good flight. However, on a 9h scheduled flight, there should be several drink services or a self-service on the galleys. At the end of the flight, I show you some glimpses of the cruise.
