OPPO UNDER DISPLAY CAMERA TECHNOLOGY OFFICAL HANDS ON VIDEO MWC Shanghai is on this week and one of the most exciting bits of news to come from the tech trade show is Oppo's new under-screen camera technology. Last week, the company posted a teaser video of a prototype phone with a selfie camera placed under the display that can be hidden with working pixels. This camera solution will eliminate the need for a notch, punch-hole cutout or a motorised pop-up mechanism. Oppo explains that the Under-Screen Camera technology or USC utilises a "customised camera module, an enhanced translucent panel material combined with advanced processing algorithms to take vivid pictures without a notch or motorised camera." The concern, of course, is whether the selfie camera will be able to capture accurate and clear selfies under the screen.The company has detailed that the algorithms behind the USC technology includes haze removal, HDR and white balance that will result in selfies that can rival current smartphones in the market. While this on a software level, Oppo has also used a transparent material above the camera and has redesigned the pixel structure to make sure the selfie camera does not face light issues.
