So, round 1 of the Journey Contest has begun, and the theme for this round was to show a mini journey. It could take place over a season, an episode ... it could be about a character, couple ... and entire show. There were many different ideas that I was choosing from. Some of which have been done over and over, and were eliminated pretty quickly, however, some hadn't been attempted ... or at least haven't been attempted often. After careful thought ... and song help from a friend, I finally chose to tell the story of Ty Borden from Heartland, finding out about his father's death. I hope you guys enjoy it! Voiceovers: Lily Borden: "Your dad is ... he's gone. He passed away." Ty Borden: "Okay, you want to know about my dad?" Ty Borden: "Pretty much my whole life, he's been in and out of prison. When I was kid, I used to go visit him." Amy Fleming: "So, if you knew all this, then why did you go see him?" Ty Borden: "He's my dad, Amy." Ty Borden: "Dad! What the hell are you doing here?" Brad Borden: "I need your help, Ty." Ty Borden: "I think you took a wrong turn. The highway is back the way you came." Brad Borden: "I didn't know where else to go." Ty Borden: "You can go to hell for all I care." Amy Fleming: "What are you afraid of?" Ty Borden: "That I'm like my dad." Amy Fleming: "Ty, you're nothing like him." Ty Borden: "Sure about that? Leaving in the middle of the night is a Borden family tradition." Brad Borden: "I don't expect you to forgive me, but I do hope to be a part of your life again." Brad Borden: "Why don't you come with me? You'll have a chance to see the Grand Canyon. Promise me, you'll think about it." Ty Borden: "Maybe I could understand why he did some of the things that he did. Who knows, maybe I could have forgiven him. I just wish I had that chance."
