The modern church (in the West) has been heavily impacted by a view of the future that didn't exist before the 19th-century: Dispensational Premillennialism. Within this view is the idea of a rapture, followed by 7-years of tribulation (some are pre-trib, mid-trib, or post-trib), followed by a literal 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth. Many appeal to the Olivet Discourse to support their views on this. However, we need to ask the questions: What does Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 actually teach?
