Most transcriptions of the end of Die Walküre leave out some of the most beautiful passages that come as Wotan says goodbye and gives Brünhilde his farewell kisses on her eyes as he puts her to sleep. I had to play the whole ending. This is one of those moments in Wagner where many of the best leitmotifs come together in an especially beautiful way. I have never worked so long on one recording before. This is some of the most important music in my life.
