#GuitarSoloTab #GuitarLesson #TablaTutorial #Shredding #AlternatePicking #Tapping Hi everyone, ready for another shredding monday? This time I transcribed Symphony X's “Sea Of Lies” where top guitarist Michael Romeo shows his hardest and fastest tapping licks! First of all let's tune our guitars a whole tone down so the open strings notes from 1 to 6 will be D, A, F, C, G, D! It's not just for a more powerful effects of the lower notes, string with less tension will help us playing lighter, this will give us more agility! Well, now let's talk a little about the solo! Even if the alternate picking licks are very straight, very regular, so you can practice the classical way learning the lines and playing really slow then increasing speed, this time the tapping licks are more complicated! The lick at bar 12 and that one at bars 42/43 contains irregular grouping of notes, (5-tuplets, 7-tuplets ecc.) and the main tapping part at bars 20 to 35 is regular but it's really fast (consider that 6-tuplets at 150 bpm are exactli 15 notes per second!!!). Here the trick is to learn these lines and play them an infinite number of times to memorize them by assimilating them really well, trying to perceive groups of notes on the same strings as one or two (in the case of up and down runs) physical movements: certain string changes are to be performed with hammer on from nowhere, so an ascending series of hammer on, hammer on and tapping can be perceived as a single "wave" of movements from left to right (and from right to left in case of tapping, pull off, pull off) and we can manage these "waves" on tempo by exploiting the physical impulses we have when we tap a note in strong time, "pushing" the other notes together between one impulse and another! It's not easy to explain it in words but someone will have understood! Good Luck!
