Banknotes Made to Deceive Collectors by Joseph E Boling part 1

Joseph E. Boling is a renowned numismatist with a specialization in Japanese numismatic emissions and world counterfeit paper money. His journey into the numismatic world began in the 1950s, and his expertise has grown over decades of dedicated research and collecting. Boling's deep connection to Japan stems from his time living there with his US Air Force father from 1957 to 1960, and later during his own 28-year career in the US Army, during which he also lived in Morocco, Germany, and Vietnam. Boling has authored and edited several significant works, including "World War II Remembered: History in Your Hands, a Numismatic Study" and "Silent Witnesses: Civilian Camp Money of World War II." His extensive research and scholarship have made him a leading authority on counterfeit banknotes, a subject on which he frequently presents and teaches for the American Numismatic Association (ANA). Throughout his career, Boling has exhibited nationally and internationally, winning numerous awards for his Japanese-related materials. His dedication to numismatics is also evident in his roles as the ANA's chief exhibit judge and a trainer for new judges. In recognition of his contributions, the ANA established the Joseph E. Boling Award for Excellence in Judging in 2007. Boling's accolades include induction into the International Bank Note Society (IBNS) Hall of Fame, the Society of Paper Money Collectors’ Hall of Fame, and the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Hall of Fame. He has received numerous awards, including the ANA's Medal of Merit, Glenn Smedley Memorial Award, Farran Zerbe Memorial Award for Distinguished Service, and an Honorary Doctorate of Numismatics. Residing in Indianapolis, Indiana, Boling's passion for numismatics continues to inspire and educate new generations of collectors and researchers.
