2025 Honda Pilot TrailSport AWD Review: Adventure Ready!

When I review cars, sometimes I get a newer year model that hasn’t changed. Normally that would kinda be a let down but in this case it wasn’t! This time it was 2025 Honda Pilot TrailSport AWD. I previously had the 2023 model and although nothing has changed in the TrailSport trim, Honda has added the Black Edition which adds a more aggressive look and upscale cabin. With this 2025, it actually spent the week at my house instead of the previous loaner that made a 3,000 mile trip from Texas to Florida and back. That meant I got to drive it on fun roads that I’m familiar with. I wanted to put the Pilot through it’s TrailSport paces and it delivered. This has been an SUV that has made me want to go beyond the road and have adventures. To help with that, the 1” lift helps clear obstacles easier. I would still look into adding more height in the aftermarket because the front bumper still hangs a bit low. The 18” wheels are wrapped in tall all-terrain tires to help take the bumps on the road. You’ll also get underbody protection with an engine and gas tank skid plate. Inside, you’ll have protection from the outside elements. The special TrailSport branded all-season mats captured dirt and mud on all three rows. The large cargo space made it easy to put all my gear and the added hidden storage made sure it was out of sight. Under the hood, the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 engine provided great throttle response. Add the i-VTM4 AWD system, and the power gets distributed to the right wheels for fun driving. The only downside to the powertrain is the unfortunate low MPGs. I’d love to see a hybrid option to help with making the gas tank last longer. Overall, I was excited to get to drive the 2025 Honda Pilot TrailSport again.
