This was one of those rare occasions when the DL class wasn't taking up most of the screentime. Throughout the day I filmed five of the (much) older DFB locomotives, as well as DSC 2490 shunting in Te Awamutu, EFs 30007 and 30013 on train 390 and DC 4853 on the M52 shunt to Morrinsville. Te Huia and the Northern Explorer also appeared amongst all the freight trains. The main purpose of this trip was to see the EF electric locomotives running, especially since KiwiRail were using the first two members of the class on this day. Incidentally 30007, 30013 and 4853 are pretty much unofficial heritage units at this point because they're still running in old liveries.
