HOW TO TRAIN WHEN INJURED Dan Pfaff on Training Rehabbing & Returning an athlete to competition

In this video pulled together from the European Jumps and Sprints Symposium in Sweden (Nov 2019), elite coach Dan Pfaff, showcases some of the movements and drills he uses for injury rehab and returning an athlete to full fitness safely and progressively. He uses a number of circular and elliptical movement exercises that involve heel strike. These are seen to safely load the athlete and also add an additional healing value. Dan points out that many of the drills stimulate fluid flow through the proximal and distal joints and that this will further help with recovery. Dan also talk about how the heel can strike the ground when sprinting and how in consequence the drills he showcases can also have a value in terms of improving sprint performance. ---------- CHANNEL SUPPORT 20% DISCOUNTS JUMPS SQUAD MERCH SHOW YOU ARE A JUMPER 7 SUPPORT THE CHANNEL USE CODE VEB361MFIC AT CHECKOUT https://teespring.com/stores/jumps-sq... ————————————————- ----------- #danpfaff £injuryrehab #longjump #sprinttraining VIDEO TIME LINE 2.10 What can happen to an injured athlete 2.44 Further explanation of the process 3.35 Elliptical shape drills (with heel lead) 4.38 Further thoughts on the elliptical movement 5.10 Re-cap and the continued talking about circular and rotational drills (with heel lead) 5.43 The movement and their effects on the rest of the body 6.11 Further drill examples 7.00 Drills being performed with more speed 8.01 Thoughts on the fluid movement that results from the drill in the body 9.03 Further speed enhancement of the drills 10.00 Elliptical drill progressions 10.20 Mixed movement drill - contains circular and elliptical movements performed at various hights and speeds 10.51 Thoughts on sprinting heel strike - and a belief that the drills showcased can teach better sprinting 12.03 Response to a question on plyos 12.49 Dan's belief that plyos should initially be taught flat-foot-rolling-heel led 13.01 How walking gait is controlled by the brain 13.43 Further drill examples involving backward, sideways and single leg options 17.09 Further variants holding med ball in front of the body, on the hip, and behind the body ---------- FREELAP TIMING SYSTEM If you are interested in finding more about this highly portable and accurate to 2/1000th sec timing system including prices, then please contact John [email protected] SEE ALSO    • Freelap Timing System: A Coach's Pers...   For a short video on the system. -------------- John Shepherd is an ex Team GB long jumper and now coach to top athletes of all ages... from English Schools Champions, to European junior Champions to senior internationals.
