2018 Toyota Camry SE // review, walk around, and test drive // 100 rental cars

This is rental car number 76 and today I'm driving the 2018 Toyota Camry SE. This is a mid-sized 4-door sedan that retails for about $26,000. I'm a big fan of the Camry. The specs on the SE trim level aren't great, I'll list them below, but the car easily outperformed my expectations for it. SPECS: 2.5 Liter 4-Cylinder Dynamic Force Engine 8-Speed Automatic transmission 203 horsepower at 6,600 rpm MPG: 28 city, 39 highway Fuel Tank Capacity: 16 gallons Driving the Camry is fun, Toyota has definitely made the most of this little 4-cylinder; however, what got me most excited was the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Detection systems. Both are located next to the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel and are a TON of fun to play around with. Adaptive cruise control is probably my favorite. After you set cruise like you normally would, you have the added option of choosing the distance you want to keep from the car ahead of you. So, for example, if you set the car to go 60 mph, but the car ahead of you slows down to 45 mph, the Camry will automatically reduce its speed to match. If you chose to go around that slower car, or if that car exists the road, the Camry will automatically speed back up to 60 mph (or whatever speed you set) until it senses another obstruction. It's amazing and on a long trip on the highway it makes driving the Camry super comfortable. The Lane Detection Warning system is a little different. If the lines on the road are well definite, no worn off, the car is able to sense those boundaries and will do it's best to keep the car in the lane for you. So if you drive out of your lane, the Camry will gentle sound a warning bell and push you back into the lane. Now, this is not autonomous driving. The car will not steer itself around a curve for you. It also won't push you back into the lane if you quickly exit your lane. The system only works if you gently ease out of the lane, like you do if you're not paying attention for a second. In my option it's a great safety option to add to the Camry, but don't expect to interact with it much. Anyway, that's my two cents on the Camry SE. I really enjoyed driving the 2018 model and I'm excited to see what changes Toyota makes in the future.
