Marauder has massive R generation, and the ability to pull back cards to hand tends to grant it higher damage per turn than Arbalest, if you have the resources, you can throw your deck at the opponent. Not a perfect, but a straightforward and easy fight with the proper setup. On low escalation, Ion cards are often better than shield cards, as they are multipurpose. Shield cards with no duration are not useful if the enemy is not attacking that specific turn and holding them clogs up your hand. The mostly global nerf to shield cooldown makes them harder to discard and get back on the right turn. Ion can be played in advance, it can trigger Marauder's passive, and it's generally a better rate for both cracking shields and effectively blocking damage.
