AFX Tomy Slot Cars Race: Caprice vs T-Bird

Model Railroad & Slot Car HO Racing Layout: Showing off some of the oldest most dinged and scuffed cars on the layout 23+: Years. Slot Cars in video: Chevy Caprice Highway Patrol (AFX Tomy SRT Super Racing Turbo) vs. Ford Thunderbird (AFX Tomy Super Racing Turbo+). These two AFX cars are among the oldest slot cars on this layout, many "miles" and hours of running; many scuffs, scrapes, scratches and even some "bondo" type repairs, T-bird was so scraped it was de-painted. Four Generations Ran These Cars: Great grandpa to great grandkids probably drove these cars. HO Scale Trains in video: Milwaukee Road Lifelike Proto EMD E8A & A diesel locomotives and eight Walthers Milwaukee Road passenger cars. These old slot cars worked well and were fun to run around the track, they stayed on the track very well going quite fast in speed on the straightaway tracks. The cars had nice range of speeds on the Parma controllers, so they could be slow through the curves and also sprint on straightaways. They went through the squeeze track nipping and scuffing each other several times. Both cars collided and were stopped two times and both cars knocking each other off the road and kept going. But mostly they flew through squeeze track and did not collide otherwise on the layout. These legacy AFX slot cars are really quite good yet, though it is not certain, but they may be from 1997-2002 (Scale Auto, Redmond, Washington). Simplicity and durability of a toy. These chassis probably have had new pick-up shoes and motor brushes. Back then when you have 12 cars, they get used a lot, wear out holes in their shoes, now we have more cars so each gets used less. We do more like "road rally" than race, like the rally races that go the speed limit and winning is to stay on road, not go off and hit the wall or worse, go on the floor. Slot Car Track layout has been engineered to keep cars rolling. Track sections have jumper soldered wiring. Also feed wires go to several of these jumper wires. Video is not at all in order or continuous, with only one camera on tripod that was moved around to various view angles during the race and the clips were edited and intermingled, but are roughly sequential. Gopro strapped to a flatcar takes video on-board the train. Also 4X8 blue styrofoam sheets are moved around to screen out basement stuff especially during on-board train video. Various lights were moved around as well. Postproduction also involves masking, screening, and framing. That has been my intention to make videos featuring the trains, slot cars scenery and structures without distractions, such as light fixtures, ceiling, windows, furnace, water heater, basement stuff and giant people and fingers appearing in videos.
