When it comes to the best plank exercise for men, there's more than one. In fact, I have 5 for you to try! So, what are the best plank exercises for men then? My choices are: **Option #1 - RKC Plank The RKC (Russian Kettlebell Club) plank is a variation that makes the standard plank much more difficult, by having you squeeze your glutes, quads, and hamstrings throughout the exercise. If you've never tried this variation before and can hold a standard plank for longer than 90 seconds, you'll definitely feel a difference. The movement and lengthening away from the point of contact at your forearms is what makes this a step up from the RKC plank alone and a much harder variation of the standard plank. The main purpose of these plank exercise variations is to train you to keep your core engaged and your body flat, even through movement. Keeping your core held strong will help to improve your posture and will help to prevent lower back weakness. The instability that this causes helps your body to use small stabilizer muscles that control your body through all planes of motion. You can do the exercises with the exercise ball under your forearms, or under your shins, as shown in the video. Doing this will give you progression that you can work with and continue to work your posture, core, and abs. **Option #5 - TRX plank variations Similar to the exercise ball variations, the TRX variations are about controlling your core through movement. Having your feet held in the TRX causes instability under your legs so you will engage your core to stabilize those as well as your whole body. You can also work on solid ab exercises with the TRX, such as pikes and jackknifes. These will work your abs, obliques, and deep core muscles.
