It hasn't always been as you might expect though! Indeed, as the franchise progressed to Final Fantasy II (Zombie Borghen, Tiamat, Astaroth, Beelzebub), there was a very different interpretation of the Trope. And by the time we got onto Final Fantasy IV (Scarmiglione, Cagnazzo, Barbariccia and Rubicante) and Final Fantasy V (Gilgamesh), things had started to flourish and take a rather different turn.
