As seen at the MTN Bushfire Festival! In May of 2018, during Conservation Music's Expedition #K2K, eSwatini's most prominent musicians gathered together for their first mega collaboration. "Nakekela Umhlaba" was one of the first compositions to emerge from the newly-renamed eSwatini (formerly Swaziland). Each featured vocalist selected an animal to represent, interpreting environmental themes through the eyes of elephant matriarchs (Pachanga), lionesses (Velemseni), vultures (Sands), hyenas (Bholoja), and rhinoceros (Black Rhino). These animal verses are supported by pre-chorus calls to action (Qibho Intalektual) and gorgeous instrumentals (Smiles Makama, Blue Lamp, and Buddy Masango). The song and video were launched as part of the legendary MTN Bushfire Festival's virtual #KeepYourFireBurning COVID-19 benefit show on May 30th, 2020. We are grateful to Big Game Parks for their support, and for their good work protecting the lands and the wildlife of eSwatini's beautiful mountains and landscapes!
